Position and specialisations
John is a partner and Head of the Private Client Department and is also part of the Dispute Resolution team. His areas of expertise include private client services, including as trustee, attorney and deputy, Court of Protection work  both contentious and non contentious, contested probate and chancery/trust litigation personal injury, clinical negligence and general litigation including professional negligence in private client matters. John has a special interest in education both maintained and independent. He is experienced in admissions, special needs, student discipline, curriculum and other areas.

Education and career
John was educated at St Ambrose College and subsequently at Manchester University where he gained his LLB with honours in 1977. He qualified as a solicitor in 1980 at Luff Raymond and Williams, where he became a partner in 1983. He became a partner at Steele Raymond LLP in 1988.
